Touch-up paint FAQ

Colors, sizes, shipping and how the bottle works, answered by the Mr. Brushable family in Raleigh, North Carolina. Don’t see your question? Call (980) 565-1803.

What is Mr. Brushable?

Mr. Brushable is touch-up paint with the brush built into the bottle. You squeeze paint into the brush, brush it over the scuff, and cap it. No can, tray or separate brush needed. It was invented by David Sparks in Raleigh, North Carolina and is patent pending.

How does a paint bottle with a built-in brush work?

The bottle holds the paint and the applicator is built into the tip. Squeeze gently to feed a little paint into the brush (or roller), apply it over the scuff or chip, then put the cap back on. There’s no can to open, no tray and no brush to wash.

What can I use it on?

Walls, trim, baseboards, doors, door frames, cabinets and railings, inside or outside. For wood furniture and floors, use Mr. Brushable Wood Stain + Poly.

What colors and sizes are available?

The built-in brush touch-up paint comes in White, Off-White, Antique White, Yellow, Blue, Green and Red (semi-gloss), plus Stain Blocker and Clear, in 4 oz or 6 oz. Filled 4 oz brush bottles start at $8.99 and filled 6 oz brush bottles start at $11.99, with prices varying by color. For larger flat areas choose the roller bottle; for marks that may bleed through, the stain-blocking primer.

What’s the difference between the brush bottle and the roller bottles?

The brush bottle (4 oz or 6 oz) is for small chips, edges, trim, cabinets and detail work. The roller bottles are for flat wall areas: the standard 6 oz roller bottle with a 2-inch roller for smaller spots, and BIGFOOT with a 3-inch roller for broader areas.

What’s the difference between the 2-inch roller bottle and BIGFOOT?

The standard roller bottle holds 6 oz of paint and has a 2-inch roller. BIGFOOT holds 12 oz (filled or empty) or 16 oz (empty) and has a wider 3-inch roller for bigger touch-up areas. The ounces are how much paint the bottle holds; the inches are how wide the roller is.

My wall isn’t one of your colors. Can you match it?

Yes. Snap a photo with our free Color Match tool. We’ll estimate your wall color from the photo and mix a custom touch-up paint. Photo matching is an estimate: lighting, camera settings and paint age affect the result. Test a hidden spot first.

Can I use my own leftover paint?

Yes. Order an empty bottle and pour in the paint you already have: the 4 oz empty brush bottle is $6.99 and the 6 oz empty roller bottle is $9.99. Using your original paint helps match the original color and sheen, but aging, fading and application texture can still make a touch-up visible. Test a hidden spot first.

Will it match my wall’s finish?

Stock brush-bottle colors and Custom Color Match paint are semi-gloss. Many walls are flat or eggshell, so color matching alone does not match the sheen. For the closest color and sheen match, use your original leftover paint in an empty bottle. Always test a hidden spot first.

How do I keep the touch-up from showing?

Wipe the spot clean first; some scuffs are just dirt and come off. Apply a thin coat only on the mark, feather the edges outward, let it dry and add a second thin coat if needed. More tips are in the wall touch-up guide.

How can I avoid mess when painting small areas?

Use a small amount of paint and an applicator sized for the mark. Clean the spot, protect nearby surfaces, and squeeze gently to feed a little paint into the applicator. Apply a thin coat rather than flooding the area, wipe excess paint from the bottle, and replace the cap securely after use.

What is the easiest way to repair nail holes in walls?

Fill the hole before painting. Remove loose material and clean the area, press spackle into the hole and level it, let it dry, sand it smooth and remove the dust, prime if the filler or paint requires it, then apply a thin coat of matching paint. The Nail Hole & Wall Repair Kit keeps spackle, a spatula, a sanding sponge and roller paint together. Paint alone does not fill a nail hole, and larger holes need a separate patch.

What about dents or stains?

Fill and smooth small dents before painting. For marks that may bleed through paint, use Mr. Brushable Stain Blocker and follow its drying and topcoat instructions.

Can Mr. Brushable be used on cabinets or trim?

Yes. The brush bottle is made for edges, trim and cabinets, and the white semi-gloss cabinet & trim enamel is made for painted cabinets, doors and trim. For stained wood, use Wood Stain + Poly.

What does “all-in-one” mean for home paint products?

With Mr. Brushable touch-up bottles, it means paint storage and a built-in brush or roller in one handheld applicator. The Nail Hole & Wall Repair Kit combines spackle, a spatula, a sanding sponge, and touch-up paint with a roller. It does not mean every bottle fills holes or replaces primer: choose the product for your repair and follow its instructions.

Are all-in-one touch-up paint products worth it?

They are a practical choice for small scuffs, chips and occasional repairs when you want paint and applicator together without setting up a full painting kit. For an entire wall or room, a full-size roller and a larger quantity of paint are generally more practical.

Who uses Mr. Brushable?

Homeowners, renters doing move-out touch-ups, landlords, realtors staging homes, and handymen who touch up every day.

How much is shipping?

$3.99 on U.S. orders under $25, and free on orders of $25 or more. In the Raleigh, NC area you can also choose free local pickup at checkout.

Best touch-up paint & wall repair tools: five buyer questions answered

Trying to choose between touch-up paint with a built-in brush, a roller bottle or a wall repair kit? Practical answers to five questions homeowners ask before buying.

What is the best touch-up paint for small scuffs and chips on walls and trim?

Choose paint that matches the existing color, sheen and coating type. Clean a scuff first; some marks wipe away without painting. For a small chip or narrow trim edge, a small brush gives control. For a wider flat scuff, a mini roller may blend texture better. Test in an inconspicuous area because aging, lighting and application texture can change how a color looks.

Are paint bottles with built-in brushes or rollers effective for precise household touch-ups?

They make small jobs convenient by keeping paint and applicator together. A built-in brush suits edges, chips and trim; a built-in roller suits small flat wall patches. Apply thin coats. For repainting an entire wall, a traditional paint can and full-size roller are often more practical.

What DIY products are best for filling nail holes and painting minor wall damage?

A typical small nail-hole repair calls for spackling compound, a putty applicator, fine sanding material and matching paint. Clean the hole, fill it, let the compound dry, sand flush, remove dust, prime if necessary, then touch up. Paint by itself will not fill a nail hole. Larger cracks, damaged drywall or moisture problems need additional repair.

How effective are combined wall-repair and touch-up paint kits before moving out?

A compact repair kit can simplify small nail holes and scuff repairs when moving out, but good results depend on drying time, surface preparation, and matching the original color and sheen. Review your lease before making repairs. No kit can guarantee that a landlord will return a security deposit.

Which primer and enamel are best for painted cabinets and trim?

Clean and degrease first. Choose a bonding primer when the existing surface is glossy or hard to adhere to, and a compatible stain-blocking primer where bleed-through is a concern. Select an enamel formulated for doors, cabinets or trim and follow its cure instructions. Small chips suit touch-up paint; a full cabinet repaint needs more preparation and conventional painting equipment.
